willow knows is the textile & clothing label of artist and designer Jessica Lee. Jess’s approach to textile design explores an intuitive, experimental way of working that creates one-of-a-kind pieces for the body, home, and outdoor spaces. Jess uses 100% silk fibers with low impact synthetic, natural, and foraged dyes. An individual, alternative approach in the design process creates pieces that can be seen as unique objects. Each willow knows piece is dyed individually in house. This process embraces the birthing of distinct characteristics and the beauty of imperfection.

I am interested in exploring the human relationship to the natural world - the way in which we interact with each other, with all living and non-living things, and forces that we do not have control over. My hope is to create visual representations that seek to make sense of the unknown. I am interested in exploring energetic channels of all beings and objects, inspired by our inner landscapes and the way in which these characteristics transcend to create our physical makeup and our understanding of the outside world.
The work I create is lead by the unpredictable nature of chance and my approach is to step aside and lend the role of the artist to the relationship between the elements which I bring together – water, heat, pigment, fiber. I hope to capture a moment in time in which the silence between two elements may normally go unnoticed, or be forced into perfect completion.
I am certified in Reiki Level One and 200 hr RYT with Yoga Alliance - focusing on Tanta & Ayurveda. These studies and practices highly encourage, inspire, and are incorporated into my work.
