For the past six years, willow knows has been a home for textiles, objects, & creative services of artist and designer Jessica Breed. Jess’s approach to design explores an intuitive, experimental way of working. An individual, alternative approach in the design process creates pieces that can be seen as unique objects. Jess is attuned in Reiki Level One & Two and continuously studies yoga, ayurveda, mindfulness, and breath-work. These practices highly encourage, inspire, and are incorporated into her work. Jess lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia with her husband James, and daughter, Story.
In my work, I am interested in exploring the human relationship to the natural world - the way in which we interact with each other, with all living and non living things, and how we react to the forces which we do not have control over. My hope is to use color and texture to create visual representations that seek to make sense of the unknown. I am interested in exploring energetic channels of all beings and objects.
My work is lead by the unpredictable nature of chance. My approach is to step aside and lend the role of the artist to the elements which I bring together -pigment, water, heat, fiber. I hope to capture moments in time in which the dance between two elements may normally go unnoticed, or otherwise be forced into perfect completion.
